Big Congrats from all of us at ECOGOLD to David O'Connor for being recommended unanimously by the Eventing Eligible Athlete Committee and the Eventing High Performance Committee to be the next U.S. chef d'équipe/technical advisor.
As sponsors of both the US Eventing Team and the Canadian Eventing Team for the World Equestrian Games, I guess we're even.
But as Canadians, we feel like this >> So...the search begins for Canada.
Of course, we would welcome all the other US coaching candidates with open arms, but first they would need to be up to speed with some Canadianess.
In addition to "how are you going to make us win lots of medals and bring Olympic glory to our nation", I suggest adding a few questions to the interview, to really make sure we get a coach that truly understands our country.
Here are my suggestions:
1. Is this your favorite meal ever?
2. Habs or Bruins?
3. Is this enough?
4. Then, you make them watch this:
If the candidate answers: 1) Yes. 2) Habs! 3) Wow, thank you! 4) And tears up a little while watching the video. That's your new Canadian coach!
